''I deal with internal stake holders. My main focus is to look after internal clients as well of management of IT.''

An Interview with Tejas Gajjar
Chief Information Officer - Meysan Partners
We interviewed TEJAS GAJJAR, Chef Information Officer at Meysan Partners, an ambitious international law firm delivering the best outcomes in deals and disputes. Executive Global gain critical insight into the innovative work being done to maintain the high standard of success at this prestigious law firm, that is making them altogether, better.

EG:  To begin, please describe the work that you do and the type of clients with whom you work. What is your area of expertise?

Tejas Gajjar:  I deal with Internal Stake holders. My main focus is to look after internal clients as well as Management of IT. I look after the IT Business unit of the company.

EG: With regards to your expertise, how do you ensure you stay ahead of the curve and always offer the same prestigious level of service across all of your clients? What would you say is your USP?

TG: I invest heavily on the new technology which benefits the organisation. My motto is less manual and more automation, whether it’s a security or deployment or processes.

EG: Please talk us through your previous roles and professional development. What drives you to achieve great things and how does your role help your organisation to achieve success?

TG: I have studied back in India and did a bachelor of engineering. I was more interested in IT then, so I focused my career towards networking, servers and AV, technology implementation. This also pushed me to learn MCSE, CCNA, A+ and acquire many more certifications. Later I moved to Australia and Joined HP, and after this I joined Singtel Optus, learning many aspects of IT on a large scale. At times we were looking after many projects – Data center relocation, international communications channels, and also internal Clients (we had about 50k+ internal users).

From there I moved to Kuwait, working for UHNWI clients and looking after the family IT, which has opened up many new areas like automation, remote access of sites across the globe (back in 2011) and also gave me an opportunity to understand how IT works in yachts, private jets and remote locations, home automations, and the integration of IT with Audio Tech. Then I moved to Meysan, where I am at right now, to take up more Enterprise challenges. I had a goal – my users should be able to access anything, anywhere. It took few years to have it implemented – and we achieved it without any disruption.

EG: How do you approach new clients and how do you ensure they receive the best service available on the market?

TG: My clients are internal, and I believe they don’t need to call IT to describe their problem via telephone calls alone. They can connect via automated chat, or email – and these connect to one centralised call management system. SLAs are defined and the calls are routed through geo locations. Technology is implemented in such a way that IT Teams can connect to client laptops remotely, with out needing to install any additional devices or software.

EG: What is your outlook on business and your ongoing strategy? What techniques do you employ to guide this?

TG: I keep myself engaged with all of the employees in the firm and this gives me the opportunity to understand their requirements. After this, I will typically have discussions with management as well as the IT team in order to improve any given predicament. I also read about the newest trends, meeting with peers in different organisations to gain critical insights. I will then arrange demonstrations of various products which are of benefit to the business.

EG: What are some current trends of your industry that you feel you are reacting to? How do you approach challenges to overcome them?

TG: Everyone is talking about AI now. Being in a bilingual speaking nation, I feel that it may require a bit of time to for things to be ironed out, in order to have good options. It is even a challenge to have the correct translations in AI.

EG: Please tell us about your leadership style and vision. How do you ensure everyone works towards a common goal?

TG: Leadership is not just about moving in a certain direction, or ordering what you need. It is more about striving towards a common goal. I always have an informal meeting with my team, informing them what is required by the end result – and the discussions start from here. The most important aspect of leadership is to keep everyone informed and involved.

EG: How does 2024 look for you? Do you have any plans in the pipeline which you would like to share with our readers?

TG:  2024 has been off to a great start, with new technology, startups and ideas popping up every day. I say only this: Look at what can help your customers to reduce their manual work, have the integrations correctly implemented, invest in products which can help in reducing internal or external attacks and make your team work smart! Put your trust in people.

EG: With regards to your own career, what further plans do you have to build upon your current and past success

TG: Quite honestly, I haven’t even thought about this – I always believed, if you do right, good things come to you.   EG
